reclaimed floors look so amazing

great news and great progress. the brick is completely done on the exterior and the hardwood floors started going down yesterday and they are looking so amazing. we are using reclaimed plank flooring, a random mixture of 3-4-5-6-7-8 inch width. the living area and the kitchen are almost done and should be done today, and the downstairs secondary bedroom is just getting started and the master bedroom has not been started yet.  hopefully all the wood will be done tomorrow.  the wood is many different colors and sizes, and in these pics dirty, but once sanded and stained, the wood color will all be the same.

The cabinets should be delivered on monday and install on them should begin, i am not sure how long it takes for them to be installed. Trim and doors should start on monday as well. so next week should really start to take some shape. I am starting to paint sample colors on the dining room wall  and the living room wall. the rooms are open to each other, but i am thinking about using different colors in the two rooms.

we decided on a design for the stairs and it really should look fantastic, very different but very modern craftsman style. it is going to be a very exciting week!

sheetrock done and brick almost done,

making progress- sheetrock got done already this week, brick is almost done, we ran out of brick and had to order more. South Texas Brick and Stone was on the spot and had more brick delivered so hopefully the brickers come tomorrow to finish the second half of the last column in the back and the front brick fence. bought enough extra brick to do the hearth and the fireplace surround in the family room. The antique Old Chicago brick is absolutely amazing looking and i really like it.

sheetrocking is done, they just have to move the extra sheets up to the unfinished space and then i can finally clean up after them, sheetrock in general is messy.  texturing is next which is awesome, because after that, we get to put down our reclaimed wood floors! so excited about those, downstairs is plank flooring 4-5-6-7-8" flooring mixed up and upstairs is the flooring that came out of the original 1940s house, 2 1/4" wide oak flooring.

i am finalizing bids on the flooring install and hopefully we will be ready to start that on tuesday or wednesday...

Brickers- almost done and sheetrockers start this weekend

on Saturday morning at 7am, the brickers showed up in full force. 7 guys started work and they almost finished in the same day! we ran out of brick, so they are waiting to come back to finish up .  the Old Chicago brick looks great i think,

sheetrocking started today, Sunday, did not get to go see progress yet, was working at the Hobby Center earlier today and watched the Women's world cup this afternoon, so hopefully sheetrocking will continue to progress and be done in a few days. i think after that we get to add flooring maybe, so i will be calling Wes the flooring guy and get Abraham the installer's number so we will be ready to go when the time comes!

i am very excited about the downstairs flooring, it is reclaimed vintage 4-5-6-7-8" flooring that will get mixed up for a variety.

excited for a busy week at the house hopefully.

TWIHB- this week in house building....

lots of regular boring stuff going on at the house.  moving forward which is AWESOME! insulation got put in today, HUGE timber beam will be put in on Friday, hopefully inspection on Friday, if not Monday then sheetrock can start!  below are pics of the smaller of the two timber beams that will be in the large open concept downstairs floorplan.

EXCITING news is that brick will start going on the outside of the house on Thursday which I cannot wait to see how it looks. brick is really hard to pick out but the guys and Damian at South Texas Brick were awesome, really helpful and I know it is going to look really cool, plus it is vintage brick from Chicago, where Jeremy is from, so that is really kind of fun.

if you get a chance, like my builders facebook page so you can see his take on our house and other projects he is working on, www.facebook.com/alleanzacustomhomes

on a side note, i would like to thank the city inspector for having me vacuum the fireplace to get sawdust off of it, from below it and above it, super fun. thanks city!
